Fondly called "Helicopter Zaldie". One of the most frolific PHILMAT performers with awesome skills when it comes to different exhibition numbers in arnis. His forte is the solo exhibition in a whistling single stick twirling and moving as if nothing can penetrate unto his body as it moves around it then to a double stick. What made it more awesome is when he starts twirling the long pole as fast as the single stick around his body and into the air resembling like the rotor of the helicopter. If only that pole were probably designed as the chopper rotor, he could have flown around the arena like a real helicopter.

But what is much more revealing is his kind and philantropic character. Everybody knows him that he started from rag to riches. He never asked for anything if you approached him for help or finances because he is a very trustworthy person. Because he believes that if you are trying to duped him or just take advantage of his kindness, its not him you are cheating but yourself and God.

The PHILMAT Generation II are lucky to have him as one of their benefactors because he has the heart of a real arnisador and always looks for the future of his comrades and wards. He is a true example of a Maharlikan!

Monching

There is nothing much more versatile than this guy. I never seen him lonely but most of the time smiling even in the midst of problem, he still find laughter in it. That's his secret why he doesn't look old even now.

The everlasting sparring partner of Jimmy Meneses from the espada y daga sparring to the different cortos and de cadenas to the long pole fight routine. So many exhibition numbers assigned to them and yet find so much energy in trying to come up with the best of each number.

A very talented, industrious and intelligent person who never ceases to amaze us with his wits and antics. He plays well in their high school band but has the worst voice in singing. He! he! he! Now what can I say more but a very successful staff of AMKOR Annang (I know he occupies a very high position) and still has the heart for arnis. Also a very religious person and married to a college sweetheart, that when you rumble their names - both "RAMON - NORMA", still comes out the same. Odd or should I say were really meant for each other!

Happy Birthday Bro and regards to Oma and family! God bless you all! You are a true Maharlikan and hope you remain always the same.

So many members never recognized him when he came back at the Reunion 2003 including me. "Tibak" as we fondly call him is a skinny guy, tall, dark and with large feet - that's where he got his nickname. As large as his feet is also as big as his heart in helping his Bros and Sis in all occasions. Always funny in most of the time and makes everybody laugh when he starts talking because of his intonation.

He is not the kind of the boy next door but he is a some sort of the handyman around. He is always there to fill up the vacant numbers in all exhibitions and does better most of the times with a new partner. He even impressed an Ilocana lady with his Advance sparring during an exhibition stint in La Union.

Oh how he missed that opportunity ............ because he could have been the uncle of Christine Hermosa! Sorry Bro, your too slow in moving and probably because your feet were truly too large and heavy to move around then! He! he! he!


Now he is huge and bulkier than he used to be that at one luncheon meeting with Jenny and with the others at Max's Restaurant, she missed to recognize him and the meeting was almost over when she asked who he was??? A big surprise and laughter followed! Truly that he may have grown heavier but we know in his heart is still with the Maharlika.

We love you Bro and Happy Birthday! May you have more things to come and hope you stay healthy always!
